Our adult disability respite service delivers careers and experiences that are challenging, rewarding, and differentiated by our wellbeing ambition, which is to enable a person with disabilities to enjoy the best quality of life possible. This is an exciting and enterprising time for adult social care in Conwy with the opening of our new Disability Service Respite and Café, Shop and Support Facilities at Bron y Nant, Colwyn Bay. The Disability Respite Facility will provide 5 fully furnished apartments, communal space, and support staff accommodation for people with disability support needs. The Complex Care day unit will provide a daily respite service for those with complex needs and an onsite cafe and shop will provide additional work opportunities for people with Disabilities. As the team manager you will be responsible for leading the management and development of a team within the Disability Service Respite facility, on behalf of the Section Manager and the Service Manager for Integrated Disability Services. What will the job entail? You will be expected to create a service ethos which takes account of a person’s whole life, including physical, mental, cultural, emotional, and spiritual needs by encouraging and enabling both staff and individuals who use our services to be involved in the co-production of how the service operates. You will be expected to: • Take responsibility for the overall service delivery whilst ensuring that the respite facility remains fully compliant with the RISCA Regulations 2016. • Work with the Section Manager to implement opportunities for service improvements that deliver efficiencies and sustainability in the delivery of services including gathering feedback from those using the service, their family and friends and other relevant stakeholder’s. • Consistently seek to shape services around the needs and desires of people who use our facilities, learning from experience to ensure a quality service provision. • Promote a very high standard of personal and professional behaviour in supporting a culture across the service that is authentically warm, genuine, trustworthy, honest, reliable, consistent, and caring. • Provide workplace supervision and guidance for senior support workers and ensure that they work safely and in a manner that meets the standards that are required of a Social Care Worker within the Social Care Wales Code of Conduct. • Ensuring that the day to day running of the service is delivered in a manner which results in continuous improvement in the service so that ‘people are supported to achieve all they can; they are provided with the right support at the right time; they are safe and are protected from abuse’ • Build and develop supervision and review processes that consistently reinforce a continuous improvement ethos from all staff who work in the respite facility What we are looking for from you: • QCF Level 5 in management or qualification or equivalent NVQ in management. • Knowledge and experience of working with disabled people including those with complex health needs, dual diagnosis, and behaviour that challenges • Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Support, Active Support, Person Centred Planning approaches and ability to embed in team practice. • To have a good knowledge of Health and Safety and the ability to complete the Institute of Safety and Health qualification. • Experience of leading and supervising staff, in relation to professional conduct within the workplace, performance, and creating and sustaining a safe, trusting, and engaging workplace culture • Ability to engage and empower individuals and the team demonstrating that their contributions and ideas are valued and important for delivering outcomes and continuous improvements to the service • Ability to manage challenging situations and to support the staff team to explore innovative strategies in dealing with behaviour that challenges • Develop and maintain multi agency partnership working to meet individual need • Experience of working in a planned and prepared way with people and dealing with crisis to provide initial support and assistance • Role model leadership behaviours that promote anti-discriminatory and non- oppressive practice • Ensure that services are delivered within the allocated budget.
