Job ID: 41192 Lead Pipelines Specialist Lloyd’s Register Location: Aberdeen, Scotland What we’re looking for Lloyd's Register is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Subsea Pipelines Specialist to join our Global Subsea and Wellheads Team. This team has extensive expertise and a proven track record of providing independent assurance for the design and operational aspects of subsea pipeline systems. At Lloyd’s Register, we support a broad range of engineering challenges within the subsea sector, with a strong focus on subsea pipeline in-place design, installation engineering and operational assessments. We are looking for a skilled and motivated engineer with both broad and deep knowledge of subsea pipeline design who can confidently engage with both internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in technically challenging challenging and cutting-edge projects, with opportunities to expand into related areas such as subsea equipment, umbilicals, and cables. What we offer you The opportunity to work for an organization that has a strong sense of purpose, is values driven and helps colleagues to develop professionally and personally through our range of people development programmes Fulltime, permanent position The role In this role, you will be responsible for appraising subsea pipeline designs across the full project lifecycle - from concept development through FEED and detailed design, into operation and life extension. You will need a strong understanding of the subsea pipeline design process, with the ability to identify high-level conceptual risks and the capability to dive into detailed engineering analysis where required. Key responsibilities include: Lead the technical verification and certification of subsea pipeline system designs, ensuring compliance with relevant international codes, standards, and client specifications. Conduct independent assessments of pipeline design integrity, including wall thickness calculations, buckling analysis, and fatigue life evaluations. Interface with stakeholders including clients, EPC contractors, regulatory bodies and internal multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic pipeline system integrity. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to ensure knowledge transfer and capability development within the team. Lead, prepare and present technical papers and represent LR externally in conferences and industry forums. This role demands a combination of technical depth, analytical capability, and strong communication skills to deliver high-quality engineering assurance in fast-paced and evolving project environments. What you bring In addition to being a strong team player who demonstrates integrity and professionalism at all times, the following attributes would be ideal for this role: A solid understanding of the overall pipeline design process at different stages of the project development. Specialist knowledge in the design of subsea pipelines including routine aspects such as wall thickness, stability and expansion and more advanced aspects such as lateral buckling, out-of-straightness and probabilistic methods. Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices related to subsea pipeline engineering. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Effective communication skills in both written and spoken English, with the ability to prepare, discuss, and present technical deliverables to internal and external stakeholders Preferred, but not required Experience with design assurance and appraisal would be an advantage. Familiarity with subsea equipment design, umbilicals, or subsea cable systems. Project management and cross-disciplinary coordination skills. Membership of an appropriate professional institution and working towards chartered status.
