Job Description
Are you ready to make a real impact as a Damp, Mould & Disrepair Surveyor?
Join us at Freebridge Community Housing and play a vital role in ensuring our homes are safe, healthy, and well-maintained. Working closely with the Damp, Mould & Disrepair Manager, you’ll help deliver a service that meets all statutory, regulatory, and best practice standards. Your focus will be on surveying and managing damp, mould, and disrepair issues in our homes and communal areas — all with a customer-first approach.
About Freebridge Community Housing:
Our Freebridge Community Housing goal is to provide affordable, safe, and quality homes for current and future generations, for those who need a place to call home. Freebridge was set up in 2006, to receive the transfer of the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk’s housing stock. We now have over 7500 properties across west and north Norfolk, in addition to building new homes for social and affordable rent, and to support those who want to move into shared home ownership. We’ve had numerous achievements, including delivering our tenants' promises and bringing homes to the Decent Homes Standard, affording our customers a much better quality of living. At Freebridge, we live by our values: Belong, Own It, Think Customer, One Team One Purpose, and Be the Change.
What you’ll be doing:
* Conducting building surveys in domestic properties and communal areas, managing all work streams to resolve damp and mould issues, including contractor management.
* Ensuring data integrity across damp, mould, and disrepair cases by maintaining accurate operational records, profiling root causes, and implementing service improvements to prevent recurrence—monitoring outcomes to ensure corrective actions are effective.
* Gathering and maintaining accurate case data from internal teams and contractors, and monitoring case volumes and statuses.
* Overseeing contractors to ensure compliance with contracts and pre-approving any work variations.
* Raising and managing work and purchase orders, ensuring they’re issued correctly and to the appropriate contractors, monitoring completion against targets, and processing invoices accurately and within contractual time frames.
* Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a customer-centric service that ensures high levels of satisfaction, keeps residents informed about resolutions and work programmes, and actively involves them in shaping services through meetings and engagement opportunities.
What we’re looking for:
Essential Criteria:
* Subject matter expert in damp, mould, and disrepair, with strong knowledge of statutory, regulatory, and best practice requirements, and a track record of driving service improvements.
* Experience in social housing or a related sector
* Confident in analysing numerical and property data to inform decisions and produce clear, accurate KPI reports.
* Highly organised and methodical, with the ability to make decisions and manage competing priorities.
* Excellent communicator, able to explain complex information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
* Experienced in working directly with residents and resident groups.
* Strong contract and project management skills, with a focus on delivering results on time and within budget.
* Proven experience in managing contractors and maintaining working relationships
* HNC in Building Construction or equivalent
* Full UK driving license and use of a vehicle insured for business use.
Desirable Criteria:
* Certificates in Damp & Mould Management, Disrepair Management, or the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
