PLC Systems Engineer
Location: Essex (commutable from East London / Kent). Type: Permanent, Full-Time. Industry: Heavy Manufacturing / Industrial Automation.
The Role
We are working with a large, well-established manufacturing business to recruit a PLC Systems Engineer for a key production site in Essex. This is a permanent role offering long-term stability and the opportunity to take ownership of site‑wide automation and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, program, commission, and maintain PLC systems
* Fault‑find and resolve PLC hardware and software issues
* Optimise automation systems to improve plant efficiency and reliability
* Support automation upgrades, modifications, and CAPEX projects
* Manage change control and risk‑based assessments for PLC systems
* Support and develop engineers and technicians
* Ensure compliance with health and safety and safe systems of work
Essential Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or similar
* Strong PLC programming experience using Ladder Logic
* Experience with Siemens and Allen‑Bradley / Rockwell PLCs
* Knowledge of SCADA, HMI systems, drives, and industrial networking
* Background in heavy manufacturing, process, or industrial environments
