We are seeking a committed and empathetic Maths Teacher to work 1:1 with students aged 16+ who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will play a key role in helping learners build their confidence and attain Functional Skills Maths qualifications, while supporting their transition into apprenticeships, college courses, and employment.
About the Role:
Deliver personalised 1:1 Maths sessions, focused on Functional Skills (Entry Level to Level 2)
Build strong, positive relationships with students to support both academic and emotional development
Develop individualised learning plans in collaboration with SEN specialists
Monitor and report on progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed
Promote readiness for real-world settings such as work or further education
Essential Requirements:
Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths
A strong understanding of SEN and differentiated teaching methods
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A positive, flexible approach to working in a 1:1 environment
Desirable:
Experience in post-16 education or alternative provisions
Familiarity with EHCPs and supporting students with complex needs
Knowledge of vocational pathways and the apprenticeship system
