Western Branch Diesel, a subsidiary of Indel Power Group, is hiring a Lead Diesel Truck Mechanic for our Portsmouth, Virginia location. The role requires previous experience as a technician and offers competitive pay ($40+ per hour), ongoing training, and long‑term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on diesel trucks and related equipment.
* Perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and component replacements.
* Complete engine, transmission, and drivetrain work based on experience level.
* Utilize OEM diagnostic software and tools to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
* Communicate job status and repair updates with service leadership.
* Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
* Work collaboratively with parts and service teams to complete repairs efficiently.
Qualifications
* Mechanical experience required.
* Basic understanding of diesel engines, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
* Ability to use diagnostic software and service manuals, or willingness to learn.
* Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
* Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred but not required).
* Ability to lift, bend, climb, and work in a shop environment.

Physical Demands
Technician roles are physically demanding and require prolonged periods of standing, walking, and occasional heavy lifting up to 50 pounds or more. Tasks involve using hands to manipulate and grasp objects, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, stretching, and twisting. Good vision and effective communication are essential. The work is performed in a noisy area with many odors, and in environments with temperature or humidity extremes.
