Job summary
To deliver an advanced level of care and play a key role in the clinical management of paediatric respiratory patients, acting as a role model and expert practitioner in paediatric respiratory.
The post holder will be practicing autonomously as an ACP to provide patient-centred quality care. This will encompass the skills of advanced assessment, examination, diagnosis and management within an agreed scope of practice.
To work within the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England (HEE2017). The post holder will deliver an 80% clinical component to their role and 20% related to leadership and management, education and research."
Main duties of the job
Autonomously work in partnership with individuals, families and carers, managing a caseload of patients using a range of advanced assessment methods as appropriate (e.g. history taking, physical examination, identifying risk factors, mental health assessments)
To be an expert practitioner and role model in the field of paediatric respiratory nursing, providing consultancy in these fields for all nursing and medical staff across the Trust, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills
Use expertise and decision-making skills to inform clinical reasoning approaches when dealing with differentiated and undifferentiated individual presentations and complex situations, synthesising information from multiple sources to make appropriate, evidence-based judgements and/or diagnoses
Request appropriate medical imaging or other diagnostic tests in accordance to Trust policies and in accordance with nationally agreed protocols and policies
Interpret the findings of medical imaging or other diagnostics according to competence
To be an independent non-medical prescriber and prescribe within Trust guidelines and within a safe scope of practice
