Foundry is removing barriers and increasing access to health and wellness services for young people ages 12–24 and their caregivers through a network of youth-friendly centres across British Columbia and online. By offering integrated mental health care, substance use services, physical and sexual health care, youth and family peer support and social services, Foundry makes it easier for young people to find support in their communities. Online resources and first-of-its-kind virtual care further broaden Foundry's reach.

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) is an integral member Foundry Surrey, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides support and programming for youth (12-24) and their families. As a member of the Foundry Surrey team, they will provide medical office assistant support for the primary care clinic as well as reception duties for Foundry Surrey. They will help to create a welcoming, safe, inclusive and vibrant space for youth and families to access services. This position is often the first point of contact for anyone reaching out to access the primary care centre. It is vital that this position be knowledgeable about services available and be able to provide accurate information to those who inquire. It is necessary that the MOA is flexible and adaptable to competing priorities and can switch focus from data work to participant inquiries seamlessly. To be successful, they will need to be technology savvy and able to learn different computer systems. It is imperative that the Medical Office Assistant demonstrates the ability to support a diverse population and takes initiative to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for participants and staff.

Responsibilities

* Welcome youth to Foundry Surrey and contribute to a positive, welcoming atmosphere in the waiting area
* Register and triages patients, including setting up new patients with the Foundry Toolbox and EMR systems
* Ensure patient flow during clinic hours
* Transfer information between data bases to ensure all updates are reflected to support clients
* Support tasks in the clinic; room prep, labelling samples, referrals, autoclaving as required
* Stock exam rooms, support inventory and ordering of clinic supplies
* Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

* MOA certificate and experience working in a medical practice; experience with clinic start up an asset
* Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector check for youth and adults
* Knowledge of MSP billing processes and medical office software, familiarity with Myle an asset
* Experience working with youth
* Well-developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills
* Excellent organization, time and general management skills
* Ability to work independently as well as being part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed practices
* Commitment to learning about colonization and its impact on creating and sustaining health inequities
* Work collaboratively with others utilizing a diversity, equity and inclusion lens
* Physical ability to complete required tasks
