Role Overview:
As the SMT Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the SMT Engineering team, consisting of New Model Introduction, Industrial Engineering (IE) & SMT Programming. The role works closely with other departments through the full product life cycle, from concept & quote, through to mass production & quality control. The successful candidate will have experience & capability of leading a team, proven problem-solving skills, and a quality & customer focus to provide continuous improvement & consistent results.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide strategic leadership for the SMT Engineering Team.
2. Mentor and develop team members, both technically and professionally.
3. Champion engineering quality, collaborating closely with the SMT Quality Manager to uphold and enhance standards.
4. Drive performance through KPIs, specifically focusing on quality, delivery and cost efficiency.
5. Implement and improve processes, ensuring robust tracking and continuous enhancement of engineering workflows.
6. Lead Problem solving initiatives.
Essential Criteria:
7. Qualified to minimum HNC level, in an engineering discipline.
8. Electrical Engineering & Mechanical Engineering experience.
9. Understanding of Product Development Process & Continuous Improvement Tools (Lean / Six Sigma tools).
10. Able to understand engineering documentation.
11. Demonstrate a can-do, will-do attitude and lead by example.
12. Strong stakeholder management and cross-departmental collaboration skills.
13. A willingness to develop own knowledge and skills.
Desirable Criteria:
14. An understanding of the SMT process, equipment and technology.
15. Good aptitude for complex and technical operations.
16. Commercial awareness to support business decisions and priorities.
17. Experience leading diverse teams and encouraging an inclusive workplace.
