Job Title: Field Technician – Pipe Freezing & Hot Tapping (Experienced) Location: Teesside-based with nationwide travel Working Hours: Full-Time – Approx. 45 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends Salary Range: £38,000 – £42,000 per annum, based on experience, plus overtime Overview of the Role We are seeking an experienced and skilled technician with a background in cryogenic pipe freezing (using liquid nitrogen) and industrial hot tapping. While direct experience is preferred, applicants from an industrial plumbing and heating engineering background are strongly encouraged to apply, as these skills are highly transferable to this role. A background in pipefitting, engineering, or sectors such as oil and gas is also advantageous. Comprehensive training will be provided for candidates with the right aptitude and technical foundation. This is a hands-on, mobile role requiring a flexible approach to travel and work hours. The successful applicant should be prepared to travel across the UK, often with overnight stays of up to 4–5 days, sometimes on short notice. A proactive and independent work ethic, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to high safety standards are essential. Key Responsibilities * Carry out on-site cryogenic pipe freezing and hot tapping procedures across various industrial environments including commercial buildings, utilities, energy, food & beverage production, and general infrastructure sectors. * Liaise with client teams and engineers to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and within agreed timeframes. * Conduct job-specific assessments to determine freezing and tapping requirements, and develop practical solutions to meet client needs. * Operate and maintain specialist equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations. * Diagnose and resolve issues during operations, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum performance. * Maintain detailed project records, including any alterations, safety considerations, and equipment performance. Essential Skills & Requirements * Demonstrated experience in pipe freezing (liquid nitrogen) and hot tapping applications. * Applicants from an industrial plumbing and heating engineering background will be considered highly suitable. * Strong problem-solving capabilities and a willingness to take initiative. * Full UK driving licence (a company vehicle will be provided). * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Comfortable with UK-wide travel and overnight stays. * Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a wider team. * Holding a valid health and safety qualification is advantageous.
