We are looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate Housing Options Officer to join our Housing team. You will provide advice and support to residents facing housing difficulties, helping them access suitable accommodation and services. This role requires excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, as well as a strong understanding of housing legislation and local housing policies.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert housing advice to residents, including homelessness prevention and housing options.
Assess housing needs and eligibility for social housing, temporary accommodation, or alternative solutions.
Support residents through the application, allocation, and appeals processes.
Liaise with internal teams, partner agencies, and landlords to secure accommodation.
Manage sensitive cases and resolve housing-related disputes effectively.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and case files in line with council policies.
Contribute to safeguarding and risk management procedures where required.Person Specification
Experience in housing advice, options, or homelessness services.
Knowledge of housing legislation, allocations policy, and homelessness prevention.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise caseloads effectively.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and empathy.
