Westbourne House School is a day and boarding independent school set in beautiful grounds in Chichester. The School is looking to appoint a Finance Manager to assist in planning and managing its financial resources.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing termly management accounts and periodic cashflow forecasts.
* Managing the fees ledger, preparing termly bills for parents and ensuring that all pupils’ and bill payers’ information is up to date on the database.
* Processing supplier invoices, reconciling supplier statements and resolving differences.
* Preparing the School’s VAT return and processing all month- and year-end journals, accruals, prepayments and returns.
* Managing monthly bank reconciliations and monitoring direct debit and credit card transactions.
* Registering new employee details and preparing the payment of all salaries through the School’s payroll service.
* Regularly reviewing budgets and identifying any variances.
* Preparing annual accounts with supporting schedules for the auditors.
* Monitoring the consumption and costs of the School’s utility contracts.
* Attending finance meetings to take minutes and resolve queries.
* Proactively identifying ways to improve the financial management of the School in terms of results, efficiencies or controls.
* Processing and collecting any other non-fee income, such as lettings, and liaising with relevant staff for additional charges to be invoiced, such as workshops, school trips, etc.
Skills and Experience
* AAT qualified as a minimum.
* Experience working in a similar role.
* Experience overseeing sales ledgers and preparing management accounts.
* Proactive and able to identify ways to improve the financial management of the School.
* Sympathy with the School’s aims and ethos.
* Experience with payroll and administering pension schemes.
* Budget management and forecasting knowledge.
* Awareness of and ability to comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality.
* Courteous with colleagues and able to provide a welcoming environment to visitors, staff, students and parents.
* A strong, supportive staff team.
* Membership of the support staff pension scheme.
* Private health insurance.
* Use of the School’s facilities, including swimming pool and sports facilities and a subsidised staff yoga class.

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, all year round.
