Hertfordshires Family Centre Service, comprising the Public Health Nursing Service (Health Visitors and School Nurses) and the Family Support Service, aims to support children and families to have the best start in life, develop well, and thrive. We offer a wide range of services, information, and support to families with children up to 5 years old, focusing on key areas related to family life.
Role Overview: As a Perinatal Practitioner, you will promote engagement with all parents and families, especially antenatally and postnatally, in services and support available to them, both face-to-face and digitally, through the Family Support Service and other agencies. You will focus particularly on more vulnerable families in the community.
Responsibilities include:
1. Participating in the preparation and delivery of antenatal and postnatal programmes for first-time and priority families using various methods including group sessions, one-to-one support, digital platforms, and social media.
2. Providing services, information, advice, and interventions on infant feeding, safe sleep, self-weigh appointments, reducing isolation, and baby massage.
3. Managing a caseload of vulnerable families, working within support interventions, planning creative responses to family needs, and delivering support sessions both at home and in the community using evidence-based parenting models.
4. Maintaining accurate records; computer literacy is essential.
5. Engaging in partnership working; some evening and Saturday work may be required.
Requirements:
* At least Level 3 qualification in health, education, childcare, social care, or equivalent.
* Knowledge of Child Protection Procedures and Safeguarding.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience working with diverse families.
* Valid UK driving license, access to a car, and willingness to travel.
* Insurance for business driving; enhanced DBS check required.
Additional Information: This is a full-time role (37.5 hours/week), Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. Some lone working may be required.
