About the Role
An exciting new opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join the team at MK Test Systems. Working as an integral part of the engineering team, a successful applicant will be involved with the design and development of new products and will be working closely with customers to define modern industrial solutions that advance their manufacturing and testing capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Electronic Systems for measurement of voltage, current, resistance and impedance
* Micro-electronics – Interfacing with PC and peripherals for the control of systems and measurement of units under test
* Research and development of new measurement techniques and technology
* High voltage cable harness testing systems using established building blocks
* Systems and ergonomic design and layout to ensure all customer requirements are integrated into the designated enclosure dimensions
* System test, qualification and certification of end products
* Support to Customer Service Department in resolution of installation, commissioning and in-service issues or problems, either at the factory or customer premises
* Support to Sales for preparation of technical bids and customer requirements capture
* Travel to customers’ premises, in the UK, Europe or Worldwide
Qualifications
* 5 to 10 years’ experience of electronics design/development in a relevant industry
* Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering discipline (or a demonstrated experience working at this level)
Required Skills
* Power electronics, AC-DC and DC-DC switching convertor design
* High Voltage DC and AC design
* Analogue circuit design, including interfacing with DACs and ADCs, filtering and signal conditioning
* Schematic Capture and PCB design using Altium Designer (or similar) CAD tools
* Ability to manage own work and supervision of other engineers within multidisciplinary development teams
* Generation of test and qualification specifications, compliance documentation, design risk assessments
* Knowledge of design for EMC at both PCB level and electrical product level
* Experience in CE & UKCA Marking process and requirements
Preferred Skills
* Masters level degree in a Science or Engineering discipline
* Kelvin and LCR measurement techniques
* Digital electronics, microcontrollers, low-level communications protocols (SPI, I2C, UART etc.)
* Python programming for test bench creation
* Ethernet – knowledge of Layer 2 protocols and low-level interfaces
* Firmware development (Embedded ‘C’ programming for microcontrollers)
* FPGA and SoC design using VHDL (Altera device families preferred but not essential)
* Programme Management skills and discipline
* Mechanical design using 2D and/or 3D CAD (Fusion 360 / Autodesk)

Competitive salary of £45k+ p.a. depending on experience
