Job Description
3. Actively identify and pursue opportunities to have products specified into construction and design projects
4. Build and develop strong relationships with architects, designers, consultants, contractors and other key specifiers
5. Influence product selection at the earliest stages of the design and specification process
6. Promote the technical benefits, applications and performance of the product range
7. Support projects from initial concept through design, specification and completion
8. Ensure products are correctly specified in line with performance, regulatory and design requirements
9. Focus on promoting products manufactured in‑house and those where the business holds a strong market position
10. Develop and manage a pipeline of specification projects, converting specifications into sales
11. Work closely with the London showroom and internal teams to maximise project opportunities
12. Attend site meetings, showroom appointments and industry events to generate new business
13. Act as a technical expert and trusted advisor on product performance, application, compliance and installation
14. Deliver CPDs, product training sessions, presentations and technical guidance to specifiers
15. Maintain accurate project and activity records and report on pipeline progression
The Successful Applicant
A successful Specification Sales Manager should have:
16. Proven experience in specification sales, field sales or a related role within construction or building materials
17. Strong understanding of the specification process and influencing product selection at design stage
18. Confident building relationships with architects, designers, consultants and contractors
19. Technically minded, with the ability to present product benefits, applications and performance clearly
20. Commercially driven, proactive and self‑motivated with a strong focus on results
21. Well organised, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
22. Professional, credible and comfortable acting as a trusted advisor to specifiers
23. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across London and the surrounding counties
