We’re looking for an experienced Information Governance professional to play a supporting and proactive role in the team covering data protection, records management, and information rights.
About the Role
In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll support the delivery of information governance services across the organisation. You’ll be involved in everything from handling Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests to advising on Data Protection compliance and best practice.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Playing a key role in the data protection / information governance team
* Responding to Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests
* Advising colleagues, board members, and volunteers on information governance matters
* Assisting with data protection impact assessments and ensuring “privacy by design” in projects
* Supporting the management and investigation of information security incidents
* Maintaining records management systems, including retention schedules and information asset registers
* Contributing to audits, risk management, and governance reporting
* Helping develop and deliver training and guidance for staff and volunteers
* Deputising for the Data Protection Officer when required
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from candidates who bring a strong understanding of information governance and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
You’ll have:
* Experience working in an information governance or data protection role
* Knowledge of key legislation, including UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act
* Experience handling sensitive and confidential information
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly
* The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
It would be great if you also have:
* Project lead experience
* Experience embedding information governance into systems and processes
* Experience working with both staff and volunteers
