Responsibilities
* Take ownership for all aspects involved in the running of an engineering shift, ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders including operations, engineering teams and management.
* Ensure all work is undertaken and equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient manner, following necessary standards and guidelines.
* Carry out planned and emergency maintenance on all plant and services to suit production requirements.
* Solve problems in a logical manner and strive towards continuous improvement within the site.
* Take technical responsibility for equipment performance.
* Provide proactive support to team members in completing allocated work where required.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement activities across the site to increase equipment efficiency and availability.
* Reduce downtime through best‑in‑class practices and techniques.
* Perform preventive maintenance: regular inspections of equipment and systems to ensure they are in good working condition and develop maintenance plans to prevent breakdowns.
* Perform emergency maintenance: troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and other systems as needed when issues arise.
* Ensure all equipment and procedures comply with health and safety regulations.
* Keep accurate records of maintenance activities within the CMMS.
* Provide training and support to junior maintenance staff while taking responsibility for own learning.
* Regularly evaluate and improve maintenance processes and procedures.
* Develop engineering solutions to eliminate or reduce repetitive failures.
* Set and manage agreed targets and objectives with direct reports.

Job title: Maintenance Engineering Supervisor Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-skilled
Knowledge and skills required
* Mechanical & Electrical Systems: Deep understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems to handle a variety of maintenance tasks, or a strong bias in either area.
* Hydraulics & Pneumatics: Ability to work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Health & Safety Regulations: Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance.
* Diagnostic & Problem‑solving: Excellent fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills to quickly identify and resolve issues.
* Preventive Maintenance: Ability to develop and implement preventative maintenance plans.
* Strong Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and document maintenance activities.
* Continuous Improvement: Proactive approach to seek opportunities for process improvements and efficiency.
Qualifications and training required
* Engineering Certifications: Engineering apprenticeship or relevant certifications such as City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent in electrical, mechanical, or other engineering fields. Electrical bias preferred.
* Previous experience: +5 years post apprenticeship experience in the timber industry or relatable heavy industrial experience preferred.
* Previous management or supervisory experience.
* Asset Management knowledge and understanding.
