Job Title General Manager | Retail Fashion & Catering

Location Anglesey LL61 5UJ

Hours Full time & permanent (39 hours per week)

Salary Depending on experience, at the discretion of the client

Shift Patterns 5 days out of 7 (Weekend work included)

An excellent opportunity has presented itself to join our client, as their General Manager. As an industry leader in the fashion sector, we are actively embarking on a recruitment drive for a General Manager to join the management team, reporting to the Area Manager.

As the General Manager, you will maximise your business profitability by optimising sales opportunities whilst working within planned costs. To manage day to day operations of the site, delivering excellent customer service through staff training and leading by example.

Primary Responsibilities

Increasing Store Profitability & Sales

1. You will monitor store performance daily, weekly and monthly as well as year on year, providing reports and updates to area managers to improve. Reviewing performance and making suggestions to increase sales.
2. Utilising KPI’s to enhance store performance and sales.
3. Awareness of store performance, relating to; customer footfall, conversion and average spend.
4. Ability to show initiative in product placement and prioritise concession.
5. Review margins and sales per square foot to ensure maximum profit.
6. New business development.
7. Ensure staff are consistently aware of sales targets and exceeding expectations.
8. Ensure staff are trained with regards to visual merchandising.
9. Ensure sales floor layout reflects company guidelines and appropriate adjacencies designed to encourage customer flow around the store and to create sales opportunities.
10. Maintain costs in line with budget, proactively planning to maximise available budget.

Customer Service

11. Demonstrate good customer awareness and interaction at all times, setting the standard for your store.
12. Monitor and seek continuous improvement on the level of service given to customers.
13. Constantly improve product knowledge of your staff and yourself.
14. Ensuring optimum stock levels are maintained, with deliveries being dealt with promptly, regular stock replenishment and commercial product handling.
15. Ensuring Rota’s are completed, with enough staff on each shift, within budget.

Staff Management

16. Engage in recruiting staff as authorised by Area Manager, ensuring recruitment remains within budget and to meet the commercial requirements of the store.
17. Effectively onboard and induct all new staff in line with company expectations.
18. Train and develop team in line with company guidelines and coach individuals to reach their full potential.
19. Monitor, review and appraise individuals as company procedure, identifying those with potential for development and succession.
20. Monitor staff performance, behaviour and appearance on an ongoing basis. Undertake counselling / disciplinary action as appropriate.
21. Set and implement clear work objectives to effectively deploy the people within the team to the commercial benefit of the branch.
22. Ability to maintain and enhance successful business relationships.

Administration & Health/ Safety

23. Ensure all branch administration is completed according to company procedure. This includes all cash management and stock control activities.
24. Fulfil obligations to adhere to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, and company policy and procedures laid down in the Store Health & Safety Manual to ensure a safe working/ shopping environment.

Security

25. security procedures are in place and working on and off the sales floor – a vigilant approach is adopted by the team.
26. ensures all staff are aware of procedures for protecting people, cash, stock and property in line with company operating procedures.
27. carries out compliance checks and audit procedures to ensure staff follow correct routines and policies in all aspects
28. all key holders are fully trained and understand their responsibilities.
29. Bag / Locker checks are carried out weekly and recorded
30. Ensure cash office security is carried out in line with company policy

Experience & Requirements

31. Previous experience as a retail supervisor/ manager, preferably within fashion but would also consider other disciplines such as hospitality, business etc.
32. Experience with managing teams of up to 25 staff members.
33. Confident in leading a team and ensuring your team is performing to the best of their ability.
34. Exceptional customer service skills.
35. Experience with managing budgets, increasing sales and dealing with profitability.
36. Ensuring KPI’s are hit and sales targets are exceeded.
37. Flexible to work weekends and longer shifts when required.
38. Happy to be contracted 39 hours per week, with shift flexibility.
39. Proficient in administration, reporting and health & safety.
40. Previous experience with recruiting, onboarding, training and developing staff.
