Position Overview
The Imam serves as the spiritual leader and religious guide for the Muslim community. This role involves leading prayers, delivering sermons, providing pastoral care, conducting Islamic education, and offering guidance in accordance with the Qur'an and Sunnah. The Imam plays a vital role in fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and faith-centered environment for the community.
Key ResponsibilitiesReligious Duties
* Lead the five daily prayers, Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer, and Eid prayers.
* Deliver khutbahs (sermons) that are relevant, engaging, and rooted in Islamic teachings.
* Lead funeral prayers (Janazah) and provide support to grieving families.
* Officiate Islamic marriage ceremonies (Nikah) and counsel couples when needed.
* Provide guidance on religious practices, including Ramadan programs, Zakat distribution, and Hajj/Umrah preparation.
Educational & Community Duties
* Teach Qur'an, Islamic studies, and Arabic (where applicable) to children, youth, and adults.
* Organize regular halaqas, study circles, and lectures for spiritual and educational growth.
* Engage youth through mentorship, activities, and guidance rooted in Islamic values.
* Promote interfaith dialogue and represent the Muslim community in local civic, religious, and cultural events.
Pastoral Care
* Offer confidential counseling for individuals and families regarding personal, social, or spiritual issues.
* Support community members in times of crisis or hardship with compassion and discretion.
* Provide advice on moral, ethical, and social matters according to Islamic principles.
Administrative & Leadership Duties
* Collaborate with the mosque/center board on planning programs and initiatives.
* Assist in developing and implementing community outreach projects.
* Contribute to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment within the institution.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of Qur'an, Hadith, Fiqh, and Islamic jurisprudence.
* Graduate from a recognized Islamic institution (degree or ijazah preferred).
* Excellent communication and public speaking skills (in English and Arabic/Urdu or other relevant community language).
* Previous experience in leading prayers, teaching, and community engagement.
* Good character, strong moral conduct, and ability to serve as a role model.
* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community members and leaders.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
