What skills and experience we7re looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and approachable Behaviour Support Assistant to work with the Head of Years and the wider staff team in ensuring high levels of consistency in behaviour for learning and pupil support across the school. We are looking to develop the pastoral team further, by providing both proactive and reactive support to students and teachers via our Behaviour/Inclusion Team. This is a 3-person team, with collective responsibility for responding to on-call incidents, managing our centralised sanction system and most importantly conducting both proactive and reactive measures to support pupils in developing and owning their positive behaviour attributes.
The role advertised is particularly focused on supporting pupils in difficult situations via our on-call system, however it also includes planning and leading interventions for pupils identified as needing additional behavioural support, as well as some administrative work in ensuring the centralised sanctions are managed correctly. This role is an exciting opportunity to work with the wider school community, staff and parents in supporting student progress and behaviour for learning across the school.
The successful candidate will need excellent interpersonal skills and be confident in dealing with students, staff and parents on a day-to-day basis. They must have a desire to support pupils to achieve their best both in an out of the classroom, with a never give up attitude. They must also have a calming presence across the school, showing empathy in tough situations, responding with a kind but firm approach. They will have to have excellent communication skills, a good sense of humour and sound administrative skills.
Responsibilities
* Support pupils in difficult situations via the on-call system.
* Assist in responding to on-call incidents and managing the centralised sanctions system.
* Plan and lead interventions for pupils identified as needing additional behavioural support.
* Provide proactive and reactive measures to develop pupils positive behaviour attributes.
* Contribute to the wider Behaviour/Inclusion Teams work with staff and parents to support student progress and behaviour for learning across the school.
* Perform related administrative tasks to ensure the centralised sanctions are managed correctly.
