Bury Employment Support and Training (Bury EST)

About the role

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated individual into a Support Assistant position at Bury Employment Support and Training (Bury EST). This is a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of partners and stakeholders to generate income for the Bury EST service and develop income ideas to enable the service to continue operating as a Trading Account.

The ideal candidate will provide the highest standards of professional and practical support to disabled and disadvantaged customers under the guidance of the Bury EST Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader, and operational staff. The goal is to develop individuals' skills to reach their potential, whether in employment or in life skills and independence.

Person Specification

Our ideal candidate will be confident and assertive, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will have knowledge and understanding of the social, physical, and emotional needs of people, with evidence of experience and skills in offering practical support.

Working Hours

Normal hours are 18 hours per week, typically over three days from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (specific days to be confirmed). Depending on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.

About Bury

The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Appointment may be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check. Please ensure your application/CV covers your full employment history, noting any gaps. References will be required for the past ten years, and character references are not accepted.

As a Corporate Parent, ensure that your work considers care-experienced young people, promotes their life chances, and empowers them to influence policies and decisions affecting them.
