The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and safety-conscious Transport Supervisor to join our operations team and support our commitment to efficiency, reliability, and safety based out of our logistic site in Great Yarmouth. In this key role, youll oversee a team of professional drivers, ensuring all vehicles, routes, and transport activities run seamlessly and in accordance with the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental best practice.
Main Responsibilities Lead Driving Operations and Fleet Supervision
Supervise and coordinate a team of drivers, ensuring all deliveries and collections are made safely, efficiently, and on time.
To maintain service levels you will be required to provide holiday/sickness cover when needed.
Report and work closely with the Transport Manager on daily activities, operator compliance, vehicle maintenance and driver activities including performance, training and tachograph card and vehicle downloads.
Lead daily driver briefings and debriefings, promoting a positive safety culture and providing ongoing coaching and support.
Collaborate closely with logistics, planning, and site managers to optimise route efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Support vehicle inspections, report maintenance requirements, and liaise with Transport Manager and local maintenance providers to manage maintenance bookings, vehicle collections and minimise downtime. Address any transport issues or incidents promptly and professionally, ensuring appropriate reporting and follow-up actions are taken.
Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and teamwork amongst all transport staff.
Report incidents and gather information to be investigated
Facilitate and support in recruitment of HGV Tipper Drivers.
Who You Are
Previous experience supervising professional drivers or managing transport operations, ideally within the construction materials or logistics sector.
Strong awareness and commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance standards.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Effective, inclusive communicator and motivator, able to support and guide colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
Full UK driving licence; HGV licence and Driver CPC.
