Salary: £16.50 per hour (Level 2 Qualified)
Job Type: 12.5 hours, Fixed Term (until end of December 2024)
Job Responsibilities
1. Deliver the ‘Learn to Swim’ Programme (L2S) effectively, teaching a wide range of ages and abilities, and encourage participation and progression through planning, organisation, and coaching.
2. Understand the L2S programme standards and deliver sessions with consistency and quality.
3. Ensure participants meet all outcomes at each stage, regularly assess their abilities, and facilitate their progression.
4. Manage sign-in and sign-out procedures for swimming sessions using the iPod, and update registers, reporting issues to reception.
5. Maintain and use equipment responsibly, adhering to health and safety guidelines, and report faults.
6. Handle customer, parent, or guardian queries or complaints by directing them to reception.
7. Contribute to the development and improvement of the L2S programme by providing feedback to the swimming coordinator.
8. Promote good conduct and safe use of the pool environment, including adherence to pool rules and procedures.
9. Prioritize health and safety for yourself, colleagues, and participants, complying with all policies and procedures.
10. Demonstrate commitment to MTA’s values and objectives, including safeguarding policies and child protection reporting.
11. Attend development sessions, team meetings, and performance reviews as required, including outside normal hours.
12. Perform additional duties, including administrative tasks, as directed by the Swimming Coordinator.
Qualifications and Experience
You should have significant work experience in a swimming pool environment and hold an ASA or Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification. Ideally, you will also hold or be willing to obtain an NRASTC or NPLQ qualification. Other aquatic qualifications such as Adult and Baby or Stage 8-10 are desirable.

Note: The swimming term is 50 weeks per year.
