Charity shops are vibrant community hubs, and in 2025, we are opening a new shop in Hythe, Southampton! Join our team in the Waterside area to help establish this shop and serve the local community, focusing on caring for people and their pets.
More about the role
Our shops are supported by generous donations and are loved by customers. Every purchase helps fund our work caring for over 40,000 animals annually through rehoming, veterinary, and education programs.
As a Standby Shop Assistant, you will provide essential support to our in-store teams, ensuring smooth shop operations.
Your duties include customer service, stock management, and general shop tasks. Our shops operate Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 17:00. You will work with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers in a flexible, impactful role.
This is a zero-hours role; your weekly hours will vary based on shop needs. We pay the National Living Wage of £12.21 per hour plus holiday pay.

About you
We are looking for someone who:
· Has retail experience.
· Is proficient in cash handling and reconciliation.
· Has supervisory experience.
· Enjoys customer-facing roles.
· Is computer literate and organized.
It would be a plus if you have:
Experience in additional relevant areas.
