Who Are We
Our Experience Design team sits within the wider Experience & Transformation practice. We bring together strategists, designers, researchers and technologists to solve some of the most interesting problems out there – from evolving digital journeys in financial services to improving essential public services used by millions.
Overview
We’re looking for a versatile User Researcher who’s passionate about uncovering what users really need — and translating those insights into real change. This role is for someone who thrives on curiosity and rigour: a researcher confident in planning and running studies, but also ready to take on strategic conversations with clients and shape the direction of projects. Whether you’re supporting discovery work or validating new concepts, you’ll help ensure the services and products we design are grounded in evidence and insight – while also being adaptable enough to contribute to generalist UX and design tasks when needed.
The Role
As a User Researcher you will plan, design and conduct user research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g. usability testing, depth interviews, diary studies, surveys). With your knowledge, you will choose the right research approach based on project goals, constraints and client context.
* Analyse and synthesise findings into actionable insights and recommendations
* Help shape project direction, define user needs, and support delivery of impactful experiences
* Work with stakeholders to align research with organisational and user goals
* Facilitate workshops and playback sessions to share insights and generate ideas
* Collaborate closely with UX and service designers, developers and product owners
* Contribute to research standards and ways of working across the team
* Own and lead research workstreams on small-to-medium engagements; support seniors on more complex or strategic programmes
The role will be office based 2 or 3 days per week at our London office based in West Kensington.
The Fit
To be successful in this role, you have solid experience as a user researcher with digital product or service development. You will be confident working independently on research plans and activities. In addition, you:
* Are comfortable wearing multiple hats, including helping with wireframes, prototypes, or supporting design tasks depending on project needs
* Can clearly explain research findings to non-researchers – including senior stakeholders – Ability to bring stories to life is key
* Have experience across the full research lifecycle: planning, recruitment, fieldwork, analysis and reporting
* Are comfortable working in agile, iterative environments and adjusting to shifting priorities
* Understand how to balance user needs with business and technical constraints
* Are confident using research tools like Dovetail, Miro, Lookback, OptimalWorkshop and any relevant analytics platforms
* Are skilled in writing impactful, clear research reports and facilitating engaging insight sessions
Please note that you have the right to work in the UK and be eligible for clearance.
