Key Responsibilities
P&L Ownership
Full accountability for revenue, gross margin, operating profit, and free cash flow
Deliver performance vs. AOP, forecast, and long-range plan
Business Partnership
Act as financial co-pilot to the GM
Influence pricing, portfolio mix, and investment decisions
Lead AOP, STRAP/LRP, quarterly forecasts, and monthly close reviews
Own variance analysis (price/volume/mix, productivity, FX)
Gross Margin & Cost Control
Manufactured products: labor, overhead, yield, scrap
Purchased products: supplier pricing, logistics, hedging
Own standard costing processes and cost roll updates
Absorption Management
Monitor and optimize manufacturing absorption rates
Analyze under/over-absorption drivers (volume, capacity utilization, fixed cost base)
Ensure accurate overhead allocation and impact on gross margin
PPV (Purchase Price Variance) Ownership
Track and analyze PPV vs. standard cost
Partner with sourcing/procurement to drive cost reductions and supplier performance
Separate operational PPV (negotiation, sourcing) vs. market-driven effects (commodities, FX)
Operations Finance
Finance lead for manufacturing and supply chain
Support footprint optimization and make vs. buy decisions
Monitor plant KPIs (efficiency, utilization, cost-out programs)
Commercial Finance
Pricing governance and margin discipline
Deal review and profitability analysis by segment/customer
Working Capital & Cash
Optimize inventory turns, receivables, and payables
Drive cash conversion and free cash flow
Controls & Compliance
Ensure SOX compliance and robust internal controls
Oversee audits and reporting accuracy
Deploy operating system tools (DBS/PPI-style)
Lead productivity, standardization, and reporting automation
M&A / Integration (if applicable)
Support due diligence and post-merger integration
Track and deliver synergy targets
Requirements
Education & Experience
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA/CPA preferred)
10–15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
Proven ownership of a global P&L
Industry Expertise
Experience in life sciences, diagnostics, medtech, or industrial tech
Exposure to consumables and capital equipment (instruments)
Experience with both manufactured and sourced (buy) product models
Technical Competence
Deep expertise in:
Standard costing and inventory accounting
PPV analysis and cost control in procurement environments
Gross margin bridge (price/volume/mix/productivity)
Systems & Tools
ERP proficiency (SAP, Oracle or equivalent)
Advanced data analysis capabilities (Excel, Tableau or similar)
Leadership
Executive presence skills
Experience leading global, cross-functional finance teams
Other
International exposure in multi-site environments
