Job Overview

If you’re ready to bring your expertise, energy, and ideas to a role where finance shapes the future of healthcare, we’d love to hear from you.

We are a Finance team committed to personal and professional development. Join us to progress your career in a role that provides the opportunity to problem solve and innovate in a fast-paced environment.

Experience within NHS Finance or Public Sector Finance is helpful but not essential; we welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds who can bring fresh perspectives.

About The Role

The Division Accountant is a key financial business partner providing high quality financial insight in support of delivering the Health Board’s financial objectives.

This role is ideal for someone ready to take the next step in their finance career combining strong analytical skills with the ability to build relationships and support operational and clinical teams.

You’ll play a vital role in supporting directorates to understand their financial position, make informed decisions, and deliver high‑quality, sustainable services. You’ll be a key link between Finance and operational colleagues, helping to ensure resources are used effectively for the benefit of patients and communities across Gwent.

* Provide high‑quality financial advice, analysis, and support to designated directorates.
* Build strong working relationships across Finance and operational teams, acting as a trusted point of contact.

* Lead on monthly budget monitoring, variance analysis, and forecasting.
* Assist in the development of business cases and service improvement proposals.
* Support the annual budget‑setting process and contribute to financial planning cycles.
* Promote good financial governance and value for money.

About You

* A CCAB‑qualified accountant or finalist (or equivalent) and able to demonstrate relevant experience in a complex financial environment.
* Skilled in financial analysis, interpretation, and presenting information clearly.
* Able to communicate effectively with non‑finance colleagues, adapting your style to your audience.
* Comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
* Proactive, curious, and committed to continuous improvement.
* A team player who enjoys collaboration and problem‑solving.
