We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Elmbridge t o assist with the appointment of a Debt Recovery Assistant on a 3.5 -months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay : £19 .16- £24 .79 per hour Summary: The Debt Recovery Assistant is responsible for actively assisting the Debt Recovery Officer in the collection of outstanding debt owed to the Council. This role is crucial for ensuring the Councils financial health by pursuing recovery across key areas, maintaining system integrity, and managing professional customer and partner relationships. The postholder is expected to carry out their work with minimal day-to-day supervision. Responsibilities: Pursue the recovery of debts due in strict accordance with agreed procedures and the Corporate Debt Policy. Negotiate and establish appropriate repayment arrangements with debtors. Be responsible for the control and reconciliation of the debt management system. Adhere to all policies concerning Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, and Confidentiality Ensure strict adherence to the Data Protection Act and the Councils Information Security Policy when accessing personal and sensitive data. Essentials: Proven experience of at least 1 year in a Debt Management/Recovery role. Accounts receivable experience within a large multi-functional organisation. Experience dealing effectively with Debt Recovery Agents and/or Solicitors. Experience working in a Local Government Environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills, suitable for internal and external correspondence. Please note: You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
