Job Summary - The Cowshed Dorset - Duty Manager/Supervisor
We are seeking an experienced, positive and dynamic Cafe duty manager to lead our team and ensure the smooth operation of our establishment. We have a beautiful independent cafe, outside courtyard and events barn that we created three years ago. During that time we grown massively year by year, winning awards and hiring some wonderful staff. We have a very friendly, hardworking, talented and sociable team and are very excited about adding another person to join the Cowshed family
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hospitality and culinary arts, with a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. As a Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
Duties
* Supervise and coordinate daily restaurant operations to ensure efficiency and quality service.
* Open 8.30am - Close 4/5pm
* Manage and train staff, fostering a positive team environment while promoting professional development.
* Oversee food preparation and production processes, ensuring adherence to food safety regulations.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in both front-of-house and back-of-house areas.
* Monitor inventory levels, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock while minimising waste.
* Engage with customers to ensure satisfaction, handle complaints, and enhance the overall dining experience.
Requirements
* Proven experience in restaurant management or a similar role within the hospitality industry.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage an already successful happy team.
* Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food preparation.
* Culinary experience is highly desirable (but not necessary).
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
* Previous experience in supervising staff within a cafe restaurant or hotel setting is preferred.
* Familiarity with barista duties is an advantage but can be trained.
