A leading accountancy firm is seeking a Corporate Tax Manager to join its growing tax team in Peterborough. This role offers the opportunity to manage a varied portfolio of corporate clients, oversee compliance and advisory work, and support the development of junior team members. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high‑quality client service, managing complex tax matters, and contributing to business development initiatives within a collaborative professional environment.
Role Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of corporate tax clients, ensuring compliance deadlines are met and service levels remain high.
* Review complex corporation tax returns and tax computations, including larger group structures.
* Lead and support corporate tax advisory projects with oversight from senior leadership where required.
* Provide technical guidance on complex tax matters to colleagues and clients.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact.
* Attend client meetings, including pre‑year‑end and completion meetings.
* Support pricing discussions, fee reviews, and budgeting processes.
* Monitor work in progress and ensure timely billing and recovery management.
* Manage workflow planning and delegate work effectively across the team.
* Mentor and develop junior staff through coaching, training, and performance support.
* Contribute to departmental training initiatives and technical development.
* Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and identify advisory opportunities for clients.
* Support business development activities, including proposals, tenders, and generating new client leads.
* Participate in recruitment activities, including interviewing and selection of junior hires.
* Champion efficient working practices and adoption of new technologies within the team.
Personal Requirements
* ACA, ACCA, ATT, CTA, CA qualified, or qualified by experience.
* Strong corporate tax compliance and advisory experience gained within an accountancy practice environment.
* Experience managing client portfolios and handling complex tax matters.
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
* Commercial awareness with the ability to identify business development opportunities.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.
* Confident decision‑maker with a proactive and solutions‑focused approach.
* Committed to technical development and continuous learning.
* Experience reviewing work and supporting the development of junior staff.
