Head of Marketing & New Business Development
Sheffield Credit Union is a not-for-profit organization providing savings and loans to individuals across South Yorkshire. Our mission is to empower our members to achieve financial resilience by offering affordable credit, encouraging savings, and promoting financial education. We strive to improve the financial well‑being of our community through our services.
Role Description
Drive member growth and lending origination through a best‑in‑class digital acquisition engine and re‑brand awareness campaign. Own the marketing funnel end‑to‑end—especially performance marketing via lead generators/aggregators and comparison sites—while ensuring journeys are fast, compliant, and deliver appropriate risk for unsecured sub‑prime/near‑prime lending.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the brand refresh rollout across web, app, branches, and community partners to increase awareness within our common bond.
* Build and optimise digital acquisition across PPC, paid social, SEO, affiliates, aggregators and comparison sites; manage CPL/CAC, quality scores and partner commercials.
* Own the lead‑to‑funded‑loan funnel: tracking, attribution (UTM/GA4), A/B testing, landing pages, CRO, and remarketing.
* Integrate and manage lead‑gen partners (APIs/feeds), govern lead quality, throttle application volumes.
* Collaborate with underwriting to streamline journeys for speed with control—reduce time‑to‑decision and time‑to‑payout while maintaining responsible lending.
* Design and execute lifecycle/CRM automation (email, SMS, in‑app) to improve conversion, repeat borrowing where appropriate, and retention.
* Produce clear weekly dashboards (impressions → applications → approvals → funded → arrears) with CAC:LTV, conversion and ROI by channel/partner.
* Plan and deliver community and employer‑based campaigns targeted to our field of membership; equip partners with compliant toolkits.
* Manage social media (organic and paid) and content calendar; monitor sentiment and respond within brand tone.
* Own marketing governance: briefs, approvals, compliant copy, and records.
What Good Looks Like (KPIs)
* Growth in qualified applications and funded loans at target CAC and LTV.
* Conversion rate uplift across each funnel stage; reduced drop‑off and time‑to‑decision.
* Brand awareness and reach within the common bond (traffic, branded search, social reach).
* Channel/partner performance vs targets; reduction in invalid/duplicate leads.
* Compliance audit readiness.
Skills & Experience
* Proven success in performance marketing for unsecured sub‑prime/near‑prime lending, fintech, or non‑prime consumer finance in the UK.
* Hands‑on with lead generators/aggregators and comparison sites (commercial models, API integrations, attribution, quality control).
* Strong CRO/UX instincts: briefing and iterating high‑converting journeys and landing pages; GA4, tag management, and A/B testing.
* Working knowledge of credit risk/underwriting flows for unsecured loans (affordability, fraud controls, open banking data, bureau journeys).
* Fluency with CRM/marketing automation (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) and ad platforms (Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, Microsoft).
* Confident with data: building dashboards, segmenting audiences, forecasting CAC/LTV, and communicating insights.
Compliance & Conduct
* Deep familiarity with UK requirements: FCA CONC, Consumer Duty, GDPR/PECR, ASA CAP/BCAP codes, and financial promotions rules; community‑appropriate targeting within our common bond.
* Champions fair, inclusive, and responsible lending communications.
Nice to Have
* Credit union or community finance experience; knowledge of Sheffield City Region audiences.
* App store optimisation and in‑app engagement experience.
* Basic HTML/CSS or low‑code landing page tools.
