Overview

The post holder will be responsible for strategic and operational management of the capital team. You will play a pivotal role in delivering complex, high-value capital projects that have a significant impact across the Trust. This includes providing day-to-day leadership, line management, and expert coordination of multiple initiatives.

Utilising recognised construction project management methodologies, including RIBA stages, you will engage with a wide range of stakeholders (clinical and non-clinical), service users, and external stakeholders, to ensure full collaboration and successful project outcomes.

You will be responsible for developing business plans and performance monitoring tools aligned to strategic objectives, ensuring delivery against key targets and contributing to wider corporate policy and strategy.

A key aspect of the role involves leading effective stakeholder engagement to inform decant strategies and ensuring these are reflected in design and construction phases. You will oversee the safe and efficient handover of completed projects to clinical, operational, and estates teams.

The role requires professional integrity, sound judgement, and adherence to relevant codes of conduct. You will ensure that organisational readiness is embedded within capital programme design, including the identification and provision of necessary resources.

Responsibilities and governance

Manage and monitor, using complex programme management methodology for reporting on performance, risks, issues, timing, quality and benefits realisation.

Ensure programme is reporting through appropriate governance framework with monthly reports that are accurate, on time, quality and cost.

Advise Head of Capital on issues relating to capital project delivery, by exception reporting. Immediate escalation in respect of change to cost plan, budget, timelines of delivery / completion.

Ensure a comprehensive risk management strategy is adopted for every project within the teams remit, which deals with complexity and potential impact on the programme.

Ensure projects deliver excellent healthcare environments through application of industry standards and best practice, embedded into the project delivery process.

Ensure projects are planned and executed with due care and consideration to maintaining the health, wellbeing and safety of those involved in the delivery of projects, ensuring compliance to statutory regulations.
