The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for releasing production orders to CNC and welding fabrication teams in manufacturing, improving production processes, coordinating manufacturing process activities between departments, understanding manufacturing instructions and engineering drawings, troubleshooting and problem-solving during the manufacturing process, developing setter-operator skills in the manufacturing team, and providing support for CMM and CNC machine centres. Key Responsibilities: Production Order Management: Release production orders to the manufacturing floor. Ensure timely and accurate documentation and communication of production orders. Process Improvement: Implement and improve manufacturing processes using Lean Manufacturing, SMED, and 5S methodologies. Identify areas for process optimization and efficiency improvements; e.g. manufacturing instructions, good practice and machine operator machine-care standards. Coordination of Manufacturing Activities: Coordinate manufacturing activities between departments to ensure smooth and efficient production flow. Facilitate communication and collaboration among teams to resolve production issues. Technical Expertise: Understand and interpret engineering drawings. Troubleshoot and problem-solve during the manufacturing process to address technical issues. Skill Development: Develop the setter-operator skills within the manufacturing team. Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance their technical capabilities. CMM and CNC Machine Support: Serve as the go-to person for troubleshooting basic issues on CMM machines and CNC machine centers. Upload CADCAM files, reset equipment, and perform basic troubleshooting. Qualifications and Skills: Qualified engineer or time-served engineer in Production Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field. Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on production process improvement and technical troubleshooting. An understanding of Lean Manufacturing, SMED, and 5S methodologies. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings. Experience with CMM machines and CNC machine centres.
