Overview
Chief Cardiac Physiologist sought to join Ashford and St Peters NHS Foundation Trust. The department provides a wide range of investigations and seeks to expand its team of multi-skilled cardiac physiologists. The successful applicant will influence department direction and EP service development and participate in the 24/7 PPCI service. Applicants should have extensive experience in invasive and non-invasive cardiology, specializing in Electrophysiology & Cardiac Rhythm Management. The post holder will have opportunities to rotate through all aspects of the department as EP lists run two to three days each week.
The department offers a wide range of invasive and non-invasive investigations including echocardiography, physiologist-led exercise testing, 24 hour ECG and BP monitoring and event recording. We have a busy Pacemaker/ICD implant and follow-up service and are the leading implant centre in Surrey for ICDs and CRTs with an extensive remotely-monitored patient population.
Main duties of the job
* Provide clinical and administrative support in the EP service, working with other physiologist leads to deliver a high-quality clinical service.
* Undertake, supervise, and teach at a high level with pacing/ICD/CRT implants and Electrophysiology Studies/RF Ablation, with an expectation to support PCI and diagnostic angiography.
* Maintain a progressive learning environment within invasive cardiology, ensuring development of all staff; participate in a 24/7 PPCI service and rotational weekend on-call duties.

Job responsibilities
Clinical duties: Maintain standards of technical competency in EP and all technical cardiac procedures (invasive and non-invasive); respond promptly and professionally in emergencies; identify and report equipment faults; provide first-line interpretation and full technical reports; stay up to date with trends in clinical physiology; assist with research; ensure patient-centred care; participate in the 24/7 on-call PPCI service.
Managerial: Manage day-to-day running of the EP service including stock management and budgeting; ensure timely data entry on the invasive database; deputise for the Operations Manager & Principal Cardiac Physiologist when required; manage junior staff; develop protocols and policy adherence; work with systems such as Solus and Cerner Millenium; balance clinical and administrative duties; assist recruitment and retention; manage stock and equipment; approve agency/overtime/sickness according to policy.
Personnel: Model professional conduct; supervise training and appraisal of staff; demonstrate leadership and open communication; contribute to incident reporting and learning.
Educational: Maintain personal and professional development; ensure mandatory training is up to date; support training of junior staff; promote a progressive learning environment; support state registration and competency development.
Administration: Register patient attendances on Solus; book appointments; use Cerner Millenium for tracking; coordinate portering; maintain department cleanliness; manage cancellations and returns of ambulatory monitors; perform other duties as required by the Operations Manager or Principal Cardiac Physiologist.

Qualifications
* Essential: BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology or Equivalent
* Essential: Intermediate Life Support Skills
* Essential: IBHRE in EP or BHRS or Equivalent
* Desirable: BHRS or IBHRE in Devices
* Desirable: RCCP registration or equivalent
Experience and knowledge
* Essential: Extensive experience with RF and cryo-ablation therapy
* Essential: Extensive experience in physiological investigations including cover for 24/7 PPCI service
* Essential: Invasive cardiology knowledge with competency in PCI, simple and complex device implants
* Essential: Competence to support ILR/pacemaker/ICD/CRT implantation and follow-up, and invasive techniques
* Essential: Lead in ECG, ETT, Ambulatory Monitoring, pacing and complex device follow-up
Desirable: 3D mapping system experience; staff management; stock control experience
Other requirements
* Adaptable and flexible
