Senior Social Workers (SSW) – Domestic Abuse x 2
Directorate: Children and Young People
Contract type – Fixed term 12 months
P05 (£52,194 - £55,323) per annum plus £5,000.00 Retention Package

We are pleased to invite applications for the role of 2x Senior Social Workers to be part of LB Newham’s Domestic Abuse Hub. This role is a Fixed Term opportunity for 12 months.


The Domestic Abuse Hub is a new developing service and we are looking for skilled, passionate and experienced social workers to join us in pioneering a direct response to children as victims of domestic violence and abuse. You will be an exceptional social worker with at least 4 years post qualifying experience of working with children and their families with complex challenges, and victim/survivors of domestic abuse. You will have significant knowledge of relevant research and practice approaches in the area of Violence against Women and Girls and have experience of coaching, mentoring or supervising staff.


The successful candidates will become an integral part of the delivery of the Hub and have the opportunity to influence and develop practice and responses in line with LB Newham’s practice approach. The post holder will support our Children and Young Peoples Domestic Violence Advisors (CIDVA) to offer a menu of opportunities for our children as victims of domestic abuse to support their recovery and work alongside the Social Care Teams in delivering direct work. You will support the delivery of the Domestic Abuse Delivery Model Action Plan.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
• To support in the delivery of the CYPS Domestic Abuse Delivery Model Action Plan, prioritising to embed a trauma-responsive, systemic, relational and anti-oppressive domestic abuse response within CYPS, that is co-ordinated across services and accessible to all children and families.
• To be responsible for the supervision of student social workers in the role of Practice Educator.
• To support other practitioners in the team through mentoring, coaching, advice, and shadowing on visits or in meetings.
• To develop interventions and opportunities to support children in their recovery and to improve outcomes.
• Take the lead in managing positive interventions that prevent deterioration in health and wellbeing whilst safeguarding children at risk of abuse or neglect.
• Provide Consultation, support and advice to social workers, Practitioners and Partners regarding Domestic Abuse recognition and response.
• Support and embed the Practice Approach to ensure high quality interventions and support.
• Champion our priorities and obsessions with Partners and Stakeholders to improve the lives of children families and care leavers
