Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCO) - Marsh Gibbon CE School

Location: Marsh Gibbon

Our rural, friendly church school has a strong commitment to inclusive education and was recently praised for its SEND provision in our Ofsted inspection (July 2025). As SENDCo, you will lead our SEND strategy, working closely with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure every child can thrive. You will support staff development, deliver and oversee high‑quality interventions, and play an active role in nurturing pupils' spiritual, moral, and social development. Alignment with our Christian vision and values is essential. Term time only: Yes Salary type: MPS/UPS Salary Details: Ups pro rata for 2 days per week Contract type: Fixed Term, Maternity Cover Hours: Part-time, 0.4 FTE (2 days/week) Interviews to be held: 29/06/2026

* Lead and develop SEND provision throughout the school, ensuring outstanding outcomes for all pupils with SEND.
* Champion the school's inclusive ethos, aligning closely with the Christian vision and values.
* Work collaboratively with staff, families, external agencies, and the local community to support the needs and progress of SEND pupils.
* Contribute to collective worship and foster pupils' spiritual, moral, and social development.
* Support and develop staff expertise in SEND, ensuring high‑quality teaching and interventions.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead on the development, implementation, and review of the SEND policy.
* Assess, monitor, and review individual pupil needs, and coordinate provision accordingly.
* Deliver, and oversee the delivery of, inclusive interventions for pupils with SEND.
* Support the professional development of staff in relation to SEND.
* Liaise effectively with families, outside agencies, and other stakeholders.
* Encourage collaborative working and support transition planning for SEND pupils.
* Engage actively with the local community and promote inclusive practice.
* Welcome visitors to the school, showcasing SEND provision as praised in the July 2025 Ofsted report.
* Contribute to collective worship and support the school's Christian ethos.
* Other duties as required, in line with the responsibilities of a SENDCo.

About you


Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* NASENCO award or working towards (desirable)
* Evidence of relevant professional development

Experience

* Proven experience as a SENDCo or in a similar leadership role in mainstream settings
* Successful experience of leading SEND provision and delivering inclusive interventions
* Experience of working effectively with staff, families, and external agencies

Skills and Knowledge

* Excellent understanding of SEND Code of Practice and current legislation
* Strong knowledge of effective inclusive teaching and learning strategies
* Ability to assess, monitor and evaluate pupil needs and outcomes
* Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
* Skilled in supporting staff development and collaborative practice
