Electronics Engineer – Space Sector (Onsite, Surrey UK)

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer from the space sector to support the delivery of imager electronics for a satellite payload for our NewSpace client - a rapidly expanding space technology company based in the UK.
This role will be embedded full-time onsite (5 days per week) at a satellite manufacturer in Guildford for the duration of the payload build.
This is a hands-on position working closely with the manufacturer’s Optical Imaging and Electronics teams to drive the development, enhancement, testing, and delivery of payload electronics through manufacture, Assembly, Integration & Verification (AIV), and final delivery.
You will receive day-to-day technical direction from the onsite electronics lead, while line management and performance oversight will remain with your employing organisation. Following completion of the build phase, there will be an opportunity to transition into a broader technical role to support future payload electronics development and strategy.

Key Responsibilities
* Design analogue and digital electronics for optical payload subsystems, including schematics and board-level designs suitable for manufacture and test
* Support electronics architecture, board and FPGA interfacing activities
* Perform circuit simulation, debugging, and lab-based validation
* Develop and support test and verification activities through manufacture and AIV
* Create and maintain assembly procedures, test documentation, and verification reports
* Develop Electronics Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)
* Ensure traceability of design data and technical documentation
* Collaborate with system engineers on system budgets, trade-offs, and schedules
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Degree (or equivalent) in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
* Proven experience in space electronics
* Experience in mixed-signal design
* Strong circuit-level debugging and testing skills
* Knowledge of FPGA design (VHDL)
* Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, TCL)
* Experience using laboratory test equipment
* Strong documentation and communication skills
* Ability to work autonomously and manage schedule pressures
* Experience with PCB design tools and low-volume, high-reliability manufacturing environments is desirable.
