UAL has a wide range of teaching, research and accommodation environments, comprising of multi storey buildings, creative studios, workshops and theatres. As a trusted source of expertise, the Health and Safety team provides support to staff and students and those affected by what we do, throughout the university. As the Senior Fire Safety Advisor, it will be your duty to provide competent advice and guidance on fire safety matters to our Estates teams, Colleges and the wider university. Your responsibilities will include leading on the development and implementation of our fire safety management system, overseeing policy creation and implementation, carrying out and managing Fire Risk Assessment process, delivering training, conducting audits and inspections, completing risk assessments on fire safety matters, preparing reports, and making recommendations to relevant stakeholders and committees. About you The successful candidate will possess a strong track record in fire safety management within large, multi-disciplinary organisations with demonstrable expertise in carrying out Fire Risk Assessment, workplace inspections, incident control, investigation, and meticulous recording and reporting. A deep understanding of fire safety legislation and best practice is essential, along with demonstrated experience in implementing fire management systems and building fire strategies. Proficiency in utilising fire risk assessment online tools, particularly for complex buildings is also required. Additionally, you should have experience in managing construction and refurbishment projects within occupied buildings. Candidate should hold relevant professional qualifications and/or be working towards membership with the Institution of Fire Engineers, or similar (such as being a Fire Risk Assessor/Auditor through the Institution of Fire Engineers Register of Fire Risk Assessors and Auditors, CFPA Diploma in Fire Prevention or level 4 BTEC Diploma in Fire Safety and C05 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment).
