The postholder will work alongside the Deputy Chief Pharmacist Operations to provide professional and clinical strategic leadership and advice to the Chief Pharmacist and the Trust on the development of patient services.
Specifically, they will be responsible for:
1. Leading, delivering, developing, managing, and evaluating clinical practice in outpatient services provided by the trust, ensuring medicines are supplied through the most appropriate pathways.
2. Providing professional and clinical strategic leadership advice on the development of patient services.
3. Supporting and supervising junior and trainee pharmacists in patient services to foster clinical development and confidence in a fast-paced environment.
4. Proactively identifying and promoting the adoption of best practices, with guidelines and procedures regularly updated to align with local and national standards.
5. Ensuring quality standards and performance indicators are established for new service or transformation projects within patient services.
6. Engaging with Willow analysts and other trust sites to develop digital solutions that optimize outpatient prescribing pathways.
7. Contributing to the development and review of patient service plans and policies.
8. Participating in strategic planning, including service planning, budgeting, and financial management related to outpatient service developments and transformation initiatives.
9. Representing Patient Services in the Local Faculty Group to ensure training and mentoring of junior pharmacists align with local and national initiatives.
10. Contributing to Pharmacy Quality Governance meetings and PSIRF panels, leading the development of local action plans and learning responses for outpatient pharmacy services.
11. Identifying risks related to clinical screening and medication checking in outpatient pharmacy, developing mitigation strategies to reduce or eliminate risks.
