About this Role
Ashwood Spencer Academy are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivational and caring SEND Teaching Assistant.
The successful candidate must be:
• Patient, positive and have empathy for all pupils.
• Motivational and inspirational, fostering a love of learning in all pupils.
• Able to support children, under the direction of the class teacher and supported by the SENDCos, ensuring as far as can be reasonably expected, the safety and wellbeing of these pupils.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Able to understand how different pupils learn and the barriers some face to their learning.
• Able to support in the delivery of creative and innovative approached to learning, driving differentiated planning and confident in resourcing to impact on all pupils' learning.
• Successful in encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour and support them where necessary

We have approximately 660 pupils on roll from nursery to year 6 and we are proud of our changing, diverse school community. Ashwood Spencer is at the heart of the community and is committed to improving educational outcomes for all our pupils. In October 2022, we received the IQM Inclusion Quality Mark with Centre of Excellence status and in October 2025, we achieved 'Flagship School Status'. In our Ofsted inspection in February 2023, we were recognised as a ‘good’ school and we want to continue to improve on that status, by making the staff, pupils and community experience at Ashwood a magical one.
