This full-time position is scheduled to commence after Easter and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for permanent placement based on performance. The salary for this role ranges from £30,000 to £46,525 per annum.
Role Overview:
As an English Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering engaging and inspiring English lessons to students, fostering their literacy skills, analytical thinking, and appreciation for literature. You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, and providing effective support and guidance to help students achieve their academic goals in English.
Key Responsibilities:
* Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver dynamic and inclusive English lessons in line with the national curriculum, incorporating a range of teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning needs.
* Literary Analysis: Facilitate discussions and activities that encourage students to explore and analyze a variety of literary texts, including novels, poems, and plays, to develop their critical thinking and analytical skills.
* Writing Skills: Support students in developing their writing skills across a range of genres, including narrative, persuasive, and analytical writing, providing constructive feedback to help them improve.
* Reading Comprehension: Develop students' reading comprehension skills through guided reading activities, discussions, and analysis of both fiction and non-fiction texts.
* Language and Grammar: Teach and reinforce essential language and grammar concepts, helping students to communicate effectively and confidently in spoken and written English.
* Assessment and Feedback: Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to support their ongoing development.
* Behaviour Management: Establish a positive and inclusive learning environment, implementing effective behaviour management strategies to promote a conducive atmosphere for learning.
* Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department and across the school to share best practices, resources, and ideas for enhancing teaching and learning.
Ideal Candidate:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
* Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English literature and language.
* Experience teaching English at secondary level, preferably within a UK school setting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and enhancing teaching practice.
