GSL Education are currently seeking skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work in schools across Rotherham. This is a fantastic opportunity for professionals who can take on additional responsibilities and provide high-quality support across a range of year groups and subjects.
About the Role:
As an HLTA, you will be expected to support teaching staff in delivering the curriculum, work with small groups or individual pupils, and on occasion, lead lessons under the guidance of a teacher. You’ll play a key role in promoting pupil progress, behaviour, and well-being while helping to maintain a productive learning environment.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
* Lead small group learning sessions or whole-class cover lessons when required
* Support the planning and delivery of high-quality lessons across the curriculum
* Assist with marking and assessing pupil work under teacher guidance
* Provide 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils needing additional support
* Promote positive behaviour and help manage classroom routines
* Liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support pupil learning
* Use data and observation to support progress tracking and reporting
* Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials
* Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the wider school life
* Uphold school policies and promote a culture of inclusion and respect
Candidate Requirements for an HLTA:
* Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
* Previous experience working in a school setting as an HLTA
* Confident leading lessons and managing a classroom in the teacher’s absence
* Strong understanding of the national curriculum and effective teaching strategies
* Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
* A flexible, calm, and positive approach to supporting learning
* Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
