Job Title:Regional Liaison Engineer
Location:Sussex, Kent, or Hampshire
Contract Type:Full-time, Permanent
Hours:37 hours per week
Salary:Up to £50,000 depending on experience
About the role
The Regional Liaison Engineer acts as the key operational representative for wastewater treatment capital projects in the South West region. This role ensures that operational requirements are embedded throughout the project lifecycle—from design and construction to commissioning and handover. The engineer will collaborate closely with Capital Delivery teams, providing expert input to ensure projects are safe, efficient, and aligned with long-term asset performance goals.
What you willbe responsible for:
1. Act as the operational voice throughout the lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects
2. Review and influence engineering designs to ensure they are practical, maintainable, and cost-effective
3. Provide input during detailed design and commissioning phases
4. Ensure safety-critical processes, such as Safe Control of Operations (SCO), are planned and compliant
5. Support mobilisation, construction, and commissioning activities across sites
6. Facilitate smooth project handovers, ensuring operational teams are prepared and confident
Additional Requirements:
7. Regular travel across sites (full UK driving licence required)
8. Participation in a call-out rota may berequired
Whatyou’llbring to the role:
Essential
9. Strong technical understanding of wastewater treatment processes
10. Experience in operational or project delivery roles within the water industry
11. Ability to interpret and influence engineering designs
12. Skilled in managing multiple projects and balancing priorities
13. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
14. Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Desirable
15. Chartered Engineer status or working towards accreditation
16. Practical experience with commissioning and operational handover
