The post holder is responsible for undertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group of patients. Main duties include:


Responsibilities

* Work alongside the Consultants and Specialty Doctors to deliver treatment required.
* Support new members of staff, work experience students and agency staff.
* Act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Prepare the surgeries, including preparation of instruments, materials and equipment required for all surgical/ orthodontic procedures.
* Work alongside Consultants and Specialty Doctors with surgical procedures both under local and general anaesthesia.
* Attend wards and ED when required with Consultant or Specialty Doctor and assist with any procedure necessary should the need arise.
* Provide four handed dentistry throughout patient's treatment where line upon clinician requests whilst providing chair side assistance.
* Communicate and coordinate effectively with appropriate clinicians, staff, professional bodies and external agencies.
* To give patient and/or patients' relative (or representative) verbal and written instructions prior to and following any Max Fax or Orthodontic procedures.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking, proactive and highly motivated Allied Health Professional Dental Nurse within our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics Department. This department offers Consultation clinics, Oral surgery and Orthodontic treatments from Monday to Friday. Applications are welcome from Registered Dental Nurses with experience working clinically within the specialty. Qualifications


Essential criteria

* GDC Registered
* National Certificate in Dental Nursing (NEBDN) or equivalent, Dental nursing experience
* Good level of literacy & numeracy


Desirable criteria

* Experience working in oral surgery or orthodontics
* Evidence of continued role development, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
