Project Engineer
* Annual Salary: £35-£50 per day Umbrella

* Length of role: Initial 4 months
We are seeking a Project Engineer to assist in the development and delivery of our CRSTS Active Travel programme. This role involves managing and delivering high-profile drainage schemes and a variety of improvement and maintenance projects focused on enhancing active travel infrastructure. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered effectively within time, cost, and quality constraints, adhering to safety and environmental policies.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
* Lead the project management and delivery of the CRSTS Active Travel programme, focusing on infrastructure that supports cycling, walking, and other forms of active travel.
* Design and implement on-highway and off-highway improvement and maintenance projects tailored to active travel.
* Prepare outline and detailed design drawings, cost estimates, and contract documents specifically for active travel routes.
* Develop procurement strategies to identify efficient and cost-effective delivery methodologies for active travel projects.
* Supervise site construction works including compliance checks and preparation of payments, with a focus on active travel enhancements.
* Manage the Council’s responsibilities related to Land Drainage and functions as Lead Local Flood Authority, ensuring these align with active travel objectives.
* Evaluate and implement improvements to reduce flooding and provide recommendations on drainage matters in Planning and Building Regulations Applications, considering the impact on active travel.
* Produce and manage contract documentation for infrastructure schemes, with a focus on active travel.
* Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality policies, particularly in the context of active travel.
* Plan and manage projects within a formal project management framework, providing assurance through reports, key milestones, and financial monitoring, with a focus on active travel.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Relevant Level 7 qualification in civil/structural engineering.
* Minimum of 10 years’ substantial experience in a relevant highways/asset/engineering role, with specific experience in active travel projects.
* Chartership with a recognised organisation is desirable; membership is expected as a minimum.
* Proven technical skills with a record of delivering outcomes, particularly in active travel projects.
* Strong understanding of the financial, legal, and political workings of a local authority.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence decision-makers and resolve conflicts.
* Full understanding of health and safety, risk management, and business continuity applicable to design and construction processes, particularly the Construction Design and Management Regulations.
* Significant project management experience and evidence of continual professional development, with a focus on active travel.
