This position blends relationship management, sales capability, and technical insurance expertise to deliver tailored risk solutions and build long-term client partnerships. You’ll work closely with senior colleagues while developing your own portfolio and professional credibility within the rural market.

The successful candidate will inherit a book of business of approximately £200k in revenue to manage, while being supported to onboard new business and maintain strong professional connections. Using Howden’s exclusive products, you will play a key role in driving growth through the organic acquisition of Rural, Farm, and Estate clients, while developing and strengthening the inherited portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing Howden clients to support retention and increase product penetration.
2. Lead Generation & Conversion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities through campaigns, referrals, and networking activity.
3. Client Engagement: Build rapport with prospects, understand their requirements, and present appropriate insurance solutions.
4. Quote Delivery: Prepare and deliver competitive insurance quotes, meeting income and referral targets.
5. Policy Coordination: Manage documentation, ensure compliance, and support the smooth onboarding of new clients.
6. Market Intelligence: Keep informed of industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory developments.
7. Team Collaboration: Work closely with Directors, Underwriters, Client Managers, and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
8. Customer Service: Maintain consistently high standards of professionalism and service throughout the sales cycle.

Candidate Profile

9. CII qualified (or working towards)
10. Proven sales experience (insurance experience advantageous)
11. Strong negotiation and communication skills
12. Confident managing technical and complex risks with support where required
13. Highly organised and self-motivated
14. Experience with insurance systems (e.g. Acturis) preferred
15. Full, clean driving licence
