As an Electrical Control and Instrumentation Technician, you'll carry out high-quality assembly and wiring activities on electrical and electronic equipment used in nuclear and defence applications. Your work will directly support reactor inspection systems, safety circuits and control equipment relied upon in highly regulated environments. Day‑to‑day, you'll interpret drawings, follow approved build instructions and complete work within a certified quality management system. In return, you'll develop specialist assembly and wiring expertise, gain exposure to nuclear‑grade equipment, and build a secure, long-term career in a growing sector with strong future demand.
Responsibilities
* Assembling and wiring electrical and electronic units, panels and cubicles to approved instructions
* Building analogue printed circuit boards using hand‑soldered through‑hole technologies
* Wiring electrical and electronic devices, including cable management and termination
* Following production planning and quality procedures within a certified quality system
* Identifying variances and escalating issues to supervision for technical approval
* This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Whetstone, Leicester
Essential Experience
* Proven experience in electrical or electronic assembly and wiring activities
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring schedules and build documentation
* Experience assembling analogue electronic modules or printed circuit boards
* Strong attention to detail within quality-controlled production environments
* Confidence working to defined processes and documenting completed work accurately
Qualifications
* Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent
* HNC level study in relevant electrical or electronic modules is desirable
* Additional assembly or wiring certifications would be advantageous
