Senior Occupational Therapist

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our supportive, diverse and fun team.
We take a broad range of referrals, predominantly from the acute trust but also from community teams; stepping up vulnerable patients to prevent hospital admission. Our patients come with a wide variety of needs, from simple to complex and with a range of conditions and co‑morbidity ranging from orthopaedic and neurological to ICU step downs, giving you the opportunity to think outside the box and enhance knowledge and skills.
The Occupational Therapy Team pride themselves on their ability to innovate and adapt to the challenges of rehabilitation with active quality improvement programmes, to ensure that practice is current, and the patient voice is heard throughout.
Our vision is providing Quality Care which uses a person‑centred approach, working closely with a wider multi‑disciplinary team to achieve exceptional patient care and outcomes.
The Team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nurses, Doctors, Consultants, Social Workers and Healthcare Assistants who work together in an integrated way to provide co‑ordinated, clinical support to promote independence and to improve quality of life.
At present, the Trust is unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this post. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.
Main duties of the job
To provide advanced clinical and professional Occupational Therapy to the Community Therapy Team/Community Hospital Team, and to provide support to the Integrated Community Care team leaders in ensuring that the team contributes to the implementation of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare Clinical Governance Strategies.
Undertake Occupational Therapy assessments of patients with diverse and complex conditions, providing a clinical diagnosis (where appropriate), development, and delivery of individualised treatment programmes.
To support the case management process by providing expert clinical advice and therapy to patients with a variety of complex conditions living in the community who are at risk of deteriorating health that may result in declining quality of life or avoidable hospital admission to secondary care.
To provide clinical Occupational Therapy skills within the Community Therapy Team/ Community Hospital Team(s), and all other provider organisations.
To be skilled in assessing and treating a range of complex factors relating to the patient’s condition, diagnosis and prognosis.
To provide specialist intervention tailored to meet the uniqueness of the individual.
i.e. complex manual handling and 24‑hour posture management.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Allied Health Professional, educated to Degree level or Diploma equivalent
Experience
* Relevant specialist/clinical experience and competence including:
* Complex therapy/care co‑ordination/manual handling and posture management.
* Proactively manage complex conditions.
* Knowledge of managing cognitive impairment and mental well‑being.
* Supporting self‑care, self‑management and enabling independence.
* Developing programmes of therapy, providing advice concerning treatment of patients
* Professional practice and leadership.
* Experience of inter‑agency and partnership working.
* Experience in carrying out clinical audit and risk assessment, outcome measurement.
* Proven skills in supervision, and contribution to service development.
* Strong IT Skills – including excel and power‑point
* Good Presentation skills / public speaking
* Ability to work autonomously without supervision.
* Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
* Ability to adapt to the demands of a constantly changing environment

£39,959 to £48,117 a year
Please note for part time hours the salary will be pro rata.
