Job Summary
The Department of Specialist Laboratory Medicine is seeking to recruit a Quality Team Administrator to support governance, audit, and service improvement activities within the laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest Pathology departments in the country, working in the new facilities at the Centre for Laboratory Medicine on the St. James's University Hospital site.
Main Duties
1. Support audits, risk assessments, and service improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
2. Update websites and manipulate scientific data for analysis using IT tools such as Microsoft Office.
3. Manage departmental databases related to quality management.
4. Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment, including calibration and acceptance testing.
5. Administer the electronic Quality Management System.
6. Participate in departmental audit activities and training.
7. Update and maintain information on the Pathology Website.
8. Contribute to compliance with accreditation standards by developing quality systems and processes.
9. Perform root cause analysis following training.
10. Provide clerical support including organizing documents, managing correspondence, and supporting meetings.
11. Engage in departmental quality improvement projects and risk assessments, including COSHH.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent.
* Desirable: Basic computer/typing qualifications.
Experience
* Essential: Knowledge of administrative procedures, previous clerical experience, awareness of diversity issues.
* Desirable: Experience within the NHS or health/social care settings.
Skills and Behaviours
* Willingness to attend training and commitment to equality and quality principles.
* Strong organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in Word, Excel, and database management.
* Good command of English and numeracy skills.
* Desirable: Ability to communicate in minority languages or BSL.
