Project and Operational Support Manager / Matron (Band 8a Blood Donation / Blood Supply) Job Summary As a Project and Operational Support Manager / Matron, you will lead and support major projects that shape the future of Blood Donation and the wider Blood Supply chain. You will work closely with the Project and Operational Support Lead to deliver high-impact initiatives, introduce new ways of working and guide service improvements across multiple specialist areas. Using your operational expertise, you ll provide clear direction, evaluate risks and help design solutions that improve performance, safety, and the donor and staff experience. Your leadership will directly influence how we innovate, improve and maintain excellence in the delivery of safe and effective blood donation services nationwide. Main Duties of the role Lead and support major highimpact projects and change programmes across Blood Donation, ensuring delivery within agreed plans and resources. Collaborate with operational leaders to design, implement and review new or redesigned services, processes and technologies. Provide operational expertise on standards, specifications, procurement and evaluation of systems, consumables and equipment. Manage and coordinate crossfunctional project teams, representing Blood Donation in multidisciplinary groups. Lead and linemanage staff across multiple departments, overseeing performance, development and wellbeing. Deliver highquality reports, presentations and updates for senior leaders and external partners. Apply advanced analytical and problemsolving skills to interpret complex data and inform decisionmaking. Support the development and rollout of national policies, standards and bestpractice models. Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensing and quality requirements, including GMP and health and safety. Deputise for the Project and Operational Support Lead and support strategic planning as required. About You Experience and Knowledge Ability to understand complex issues, problemsolve and develop effective solutions. Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills. Strong analytical capability, using data to evaluate performance and support decisionmaking. Demonstrated ability to lead people and manage services across operational environments. Experience in planning over multiple timeframes and adapting to changing priorities. Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse (NMC Part 1 Adult/General) or equivalent professional qualification. Educated to Master s level in a relevant subject, or significant equivalent experience. Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development. Valid driving licence enabling travel across the UK. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and advanced keyboard skills.
